December 15th - Catalogue + fourfiveX Editions

Catalogue is an independent graphic design studio based in the North of England and founded in 2010 by Tom Pratt and Oliver Shaw. The studio specialises in design for print, branding, identity, books, exhibition and web. We work for both commercial clients and on self initiated projects.

fourfiveX is an initiative for independent thoughts, products, art and design. Founded by Alexander Lis and Tim Heiler in 2005.

January 19th - Jay Cover (Nous Vous) + Hugh Frost (Landfill Editions)

Jay is a Graphic Designer, Illustrator & Artist from the Isle of Man. Currently living and working in Leeds. He is one part of Nous Vous Collective, who work together collaboratively on large scale projects and self initiated publishing projects.

Hugh is a graduate from the University of Brighton, he spent a brief spell at American Apparel in LA before returning to London to focus on music under the name Sportsday Megaphone. Having released his debut album, So Many Colours/So Little Time in 2008, he went on to play across the UK as well as in Germany, Holland, France, Sweden and Japan. Hugh currently runs Landfill Editions, a publisher and Manymono, his printing service. Hugh co-founded OPEN in 2010 after a huge success with his new publishing venture at Pick Me Up. Hugh is responsible for fostering national/international artist links, and generating new collaborations/projects in unusual areas at Open.

February 16th - Liam Henry (No Culture Icons) + Matt Saunders (Rabbit Portal)

Liam Henry is Leeds based photographer and found of the No Culture Icons collective. A group of young international and emerging photographers and artists whose works offer a comparative view of snap shot moments in both the public and private sphere. He also runs the No Culture Icons Film Lab located in Holbeck, Leeds.

Matt Saunders Is a freelance illustrator/director/animator/editor currently based in Leeds. His clients have been based in LA, San Francisco, Brisbane, Paris, Rome, London. Some of the people he has worked with include Channel four,Marks & Spencers Tiger Print, Atlantic Records, Cath Kidston, Jeffrey Brown, Leeds Film Festival, BAF, Anorak magazine, Picasso Pictures, Spindle Magazine, Itch Design, Juxtapoz, Digital Artists, Belle and Sebastian and more.

March 15th - Joe Gilmore (Qubik) + Joel Evey

Qubik is a graphic design studio founded in 2000 by Joe Gilmore. Specialising in typographic-led design for branding, print and digital media, the studio works with a variety of clients in the commercial and cultural sector.

Joel Evey is a Graphic Designer based in Philadelphia USA. He currently works as an art director for Urban Outfitter. He combines well thought out considered layout and typography with images to create thought provoking and interesting pieces of work.

April 19th - Matt Hodson + Adam Higton

Leeds based Matthew The Horse is the design pseudonym for large northern Illustrator Matthew Hodson. Matthew also takes time to do poems as well as draw. He is also a teacher at Leeds College of Art. Matthews work often portrays energy, the human condition and of course animals.

Adam Higton graduated with BA hons Fine Art from UWE, bristol 2008, since then, he has started his own mystical woodland saga which combines drawing, video, costumes, music, textiles and performances pieces (mainly focusing on drawing...) titled 'Yule Bringer'. Adam's work is based around themes of merriment and mysticism, a love of drawing and the works are mainly inspired from his own personal spiritual experiences, which are adapted, changed and re-told through the creation of woodland characters.

May 17th - RISO PARTY

Catch-Up final event will be an accumulative show of 10 riso prints, each designed by one of the participating artists from the 5 months of exhibitions.

Prints from Hugh Frost (Landfill Editions), Jay Cover (Nous Vous), Adam Higton (Yule Bringer), Matthew Hodson (Matthew the Horse), Catalogue, fourfiveX, Joel Evey, Joe Gilmore (Qubik), Liam Henry and Matt Saunders. The event will be a pick and mix of free artwork, come down and choose what you would like.
ABOUT


Catch-Up is a series of six exhibitions featuring illustration, graphic design and photography set up and curated by Jay Cover (Nous Vous), Tom Pratt and Oliver Shaw (Catalogue) and Sophie Thornberry.

Opening on the third Thursday of each month. Each month an artist is invited to exhibit, along with an artist of their choosing, creating a dynamic showcase of artistic talent, exploring cross-over in creative disciplines.

A limited edition publication will accompany each event, featuring participating artists. Publications will be free of charge to first 50 guests.

DIRECTIONS


Catch-Up Events are to be held at Top-Up, the current studio/shop/gallery of Jay Cover.

Top-Up is a 10 minute walk from Leeds Station.

Coming out from Leeds Station towards City centre, take a sharp right and walk down New Station Street. Then take the first right onto Neville Street, walk directly through the Dark Arches. Take the first right after crossing the bridge onto Water Lane, continue on Water Lane for 5 minutes, arrive at Out Of The Woods café and Top-Up is next door.
